If you follow the news, you’ll notice that most states and countries affected by the Coronavirus are implementing “social distancing” or “quarantining” conditions.  The intent behind these behaviors are a smart call, and follow the same logic as vaccinations.  If the virus is unable to infect new people, after a few weeks it will die off.

At Family Medical Home, we have taken several steps to ensure that we do our part to keep our community healthy.  Protective equipment for both patients and doctors helps prevent the spread inside the clinic, and carside care reduces the number of patients entering the clinic at all.  But the greatest way we can reduce one person transmitting the Coronavirus to another is by offering telehealth appointments. Here’s what you can expect:

1. You call to schedule an appointment like usual.

2. Our schedulers will set an appointment time for you, and give your information to our nurses and doctors who will determine whether you need to be seen in person or on video.

3. If you’ll have a telehealth appointment, we will let you know.  A few minutes before the appointment one of our nurses will call to confirm that you are able to log in to the app that we are using for our telehealth appointments. The visit will be essentially the same as the in person experience, except you’ll be able to do it from the comfort of your own home.

4. Based off of the telehealth appointment, our doctors may ask you to come in and be seen in person.  This will count as the same visit for billing.

The third party application we are using for telehealth calls is called doxy.me.  You can check it out before your appointment by going to https://doxy.me
